AND MORE
Camembert
Camembert is a lovely village in Normandy and home of the world-famous Camembert cheese. Visit a traditional “fromagerieâ€, and taste various Camemberts.
Rouen
The “rue du Gros Horlogeâ€, an evocative, pedestrianised street of 14th- and 15th-century half-timbered houses with shops at ground level, leads from Rouen's Place du Vieux-Marché to the Cathédrale Notre Dame. A low renaissance arch spans the street, and above it is the golden-faced clock that has become the symbol of Rouen. From the top is a splendid view of the city and the Seine Valley.
Bayeux Tapestry
The Bayeux Tapestry, known as the Tapisserie de la Reine Mathilde, is not a tapestry but a work of embroidery. It sets out William the Conqueror's invasion and conquest of England in 58 scenes; only the last nine concern the Battle of Hastings. The English are shown with long hair and moustaches, the Normans have short hair and are clean-shaven.
Europe:
During your stay in Paris, take the opportunity to discover the nearest European countries like Belgium: Bruges, The Venice of the North, a true jewel of architecture or Brussels, with its so famous “Manneken Pisâ€. |
