Landing Beaches & Invasion's Museum
The Invasion Museum is the best of several of its kind along the coast, all devoted to the Normandy landings. This one is situated beside the beach at Arromanches, allowing clear views of the actual scene where the momentous events took place. Exhibits include plans, dioramas, models, arms, and equipment, and films taken by photographers of the Royal Navy at the time of the landings.
Etretat Cliffs
The cliffs at Etretat have been described as the most beautiful and proudest monuments of maritime architecture. The resort attracted painters of the Impressionist School, and the writer Maupassant spent much of his childhood here.
Gastronomy
A famous wine & food region, mostly thanks to the world-famous Camembert cheese. Visit a traditional fromagerie, and taste various Camembert. |
